Young dairy farmers Jason (r) and Rachel (l) Ogorzalek with Farm Credit’s Jake Rease and Stacey Deebs
Young farmers Jason and Rachel Ogorzalek milk 160 cows in Arkport New York. Farm Credit loan officer Jake Rease and office assistant Stacey Deebs provide the Ogorzalek’s with operating funds to help run their business. Jason shared their experience with Financial Partner magazine:

“Rachel and I each grew up on farms, but were not able to buy our own dairy.

So we began milking seven years ago in a rented freestall. A big part of our success is due to our purchased forage and facility rental agreement with Andy and June Spencer. Farm Credit believed in us early on too.

Protecting our limited assets was important if we were going to succeed. Jake recommended Credit Life Insurance when we took out our initial operating loan. It is important protection if something should happen to me or Rachel. It is quick and convenient insurance coverage for our entire loan balance.

Rachel and I look for tools and advice, like Profit Analyzer, records and payroll support to stay profitable. Our immediate goals are to ship two million pounds of milk per worker and reduce our heifer boarding expenses. Credit life insurance protection is an important risk management tool for us."
