Farm Credit of Western New York Announces New Environmental Loan Program

Farm Credit of Western New York, ACA announced a new loan program to fund environmentally-related projects and equipment for agricultural businesses. The program is a direct response to the increasing environmental costs associated with production agriculture and offers attractive rates and terms. This special financing is available for a limited time.

Michael Gerber, President and CEO of the financial services cooperative said "This program helps most agricultural producers to make the necessary investments in their farms to maintain competitive, environmentally friendly businesses." Gerber anticipates that farmers will use the environmental loan program for chemical storage facilities, manure lagoons and fuel containment facilities. Environmental loans will be included in Farm Credit of Western New York's patronage refund program. Cash patronage refunds each of the past four years have reduced effective interest rates in excess of one-half of one percent, according to Gerber.

"Agriculture's impact is vital to western New York's economy, — but so are the intangible benefits of open fields, farmsteads and wildlife. Our Association board recognizes the importance agricultural producers place on environmental stewardship" said Gerber.

Environmental loan program details are available online at www.FarmCreditWNY.com. Farm Credit provides loans, leases, appraisals, record-keeping services, income tax services, and consulting services to western New York's agricultural producers and rural residents. The 16-county cooperative has offices in Batavia, Geneva, Hornell, and Mayville.
