Farm Credit Scholarship Winners Announced

Michael A. Gerber, president and CEO of Farm Credit of Western New York, announced three recipients of $1,000 scholarships for the 2001-2002 academic year. The credit and financial services cooperative awarded the scholarships based on applicants’ interest in agriculture, extracurricular activities and essay discussing technology’s impact on the future of agriculture.

Daniel M. Henry of Eden, N.Y. is pursuing a degree in biosystems engineering at Michigan State University. A 2001 graduate of Eden High School, Daniel was active in 4-H, FFA, sports and his local church.

Rebecca L. Rugenstein attends Michigan State University where she is pursuing an agricultural business management degree. Rebecca is a member of the Michigan State University meats judging team. A 2000 graduate of Canandaigua Academy, she was a band member and active in Ontario County 4-H programs.

Kate Walker of Falconer, N.Y. is pursuing a degree in animal science at Cornell University. A 2001 graduate of Falconer Central School, Kate was active in sports and 4-H programs.

"The talent and enthusiasm evident in the scholarship applicants is impressive. Western New York agriculture has a bright and promising future." Gerber said.
